Chris French (Frenchy) is a novelist and storyteller based in Sydney.

Over two decades in visual effects put him on set and in the edit suite with some of the world's most celebrated directors. He built teams, solved problems nobody had solved before, and helped bring worlds to life that existed only in someone's mind. Credits include Charlotte's Web, Captain America: The First Avenger, Thor: Ragnarok, Sonic the Hedgehog 3, The Creator, and Alien: Earth. Alongside his film work he has written for games and virtual reality, collaborating with studios on world-building and narrative development.

A few years ago he sat down with a psychologist and built a VR mindfulness experience for teenagers. He made it for kids like the one he used to be, kids who needed someone to show them how to handle what was going on inside. That work led him to create stories that only he could tell.

His debut novel, Ethan and the Reign of Fear, began as a Christmas present for his children. He wanted to give them something he wished someone had given him: a story that taught them it was okay to be afraid, and showed them what courage actually looks like. He wrote it because he believed that the right story, told at the right moment, can change how a child sees themselves and the world around them.

That belief is what drives everything he writes.

He is currently writing his second novel.
